Arnhem to launch shared bicycle service with 400 bikes
Starting in early October, the city of Arnhem will introduce a shared bicycle system to improve urban mobility. A total of 400 bicycles will be deployed across approximately 30 locations, including the city center, public transport hubs, and shopping districts.
The service is provided by two companies, Voi and Hoppy, each granted a permit for up to 200 bicycles. To prevent clutter in public spaces, the city has established digital boundaries; users can only end their rides within designated zones. The municipality intends to expand the network to outer districts in Arnhem-North and Arnhem-South over time. The initiative aims to supplement public transport and provide an alternative to short car trips, with special rates planned for students and Gelre bus pass holders.
