Arno Bausemer faces investigations for assault and suspected drunk driving

Arno Bausemer, an AfD Member of the European Parliament and state treasurer for AfD Saxony-Anhalt, is facing two separate investigations following a series of incidents in Stendal.

On one occasion, Bausemer was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with two 14-year-old youths who had damaged an AfD election poster. The Landeskriminalamt (LKA) is investigating the incident, which reportedly involved the use of a baseball bat. One of the teenagers sustained injuries, including a concussion and bruises, and required hospital treatment.

Following this, Bausemer was stopped by police during a traffic control. Security sources and local reports indicate that an investigation has been launched into a suspected traffic offense involving a person with parliamentary immunity. There are allegations that Bausemer was driving under the influence, with reports citing a blood alcohol level of approximately 1.2 per mille.

Political opponents, including leaders from the Green and Left parties in Saxony-Anhalt, have condemned the incidents and called for his immediate resignation.
