Arno Gujon compares Kosovo status to French sovereignty
Arno Gujon, Director of the Office for Public and Cultural Diplomacy, has drawn a parallel between the French defense of its territorial integrity and the Serbian position regarding Kosovo and Metohija.
The comparison follows a statement by French President Emmanuel Macron, who asserted that the archipelago of Saint Pierre and Miquelon is part of France. Macron’s response came after Donald Trump shared a map depicting the territory under the American flag. Gujon noted that Macron’s stance, which emphasizes respect for the French Constitution, is widely accepted across the French political spectrum.
Gujon argued that if a territory of 5,500 residents located 4,300 kilometers from Paris is considered French by all French citizens, then Kosovo and Metohija should be considered Serbian by all Serbs, regardless of political ideology. He suggested that those who view the status of Kosovo and Metohija as a political burden should observe how European Union nations defend their own sovereignty.
