Arnold Rosier recommended as new mayor of Dantumadiel

The Dantumadiel municipal council has recommended Arnold Rosier as the new mayor of the municipality. Rosier, 52, currently serves as the Clerk of the Provincial Council in Fryslân and is also the chairman of a supervisory board for a mental healthcare organization.

Rosier will succeed acting mayor Anja Haga, who has been serving since the departure of Klaas Agricola at the end of 2024. The selection follows an extended search process that began in early 2025 but was initially paused due to a lack of suitable candidates. After the municipal elections in March, the search was resumed, eventually resulting in two finalists presented by a trust committee.

Hilda Zwart, chair of the trust committee, stated that the council believes Rosier is a committed administrator with a clear vision who can balance being a visible figure for residents with representing the municipality's interests in the region. The recommendation will now be sent to the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations for formal appointment by the Crown. The new mayor is expected to be installed on November 10.
