Arnold Schwarzenegger shares simplified strength training routine
Arnold Schwarzenegger, the 79-year-old actor and former Governor of California, has shared his approach to strength training through his wellness platform, Arnold’s Pump Club. He argues that effective workouts do not require 90 minutes or a high volume of different exercises, stating that many people overcomplicate the process.
Schwarzenegger proposes a streamlined routine centered on five key movement patterns to build strength and muscle mass: squats (such as back squats or leg presses), hip hinges (including deadlifts or hip thrusts), pushes (like bench presses or push-ups), pulls (such as rows or assisted pull-ups), and weight carries (walking with heavy objects for 30 to 40 seconds).
His method suggests performing two to three intense sets for each category approximately twice a week. He emphasizes performing the most difficult repetitions and stopping one or two reps before technique is compromised to ensure efficiency and results.
