Arnsberg Fire Department conducts forest fire simulation

The Arnsberg fire department conducted a large-scale forest fire simulation on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in a wooded area located between Arnsberg-Herdringen and Sundern-Hövel. The exercise involved units from Herdringen, Hüsten, and Müschede to practice combating widespread fires and managing long transport distances.

Key components of the drill included the use of a drone squadron for aerial support and a specialized flushing vehicle from the Arnsberg municipal utilities capable of delivering up to 12,000 liters of water. To ensure a realistic scenario, units were dispatched from their respective stations via radio. The exercise also involved setting up a defensive line, utilizing folding containers for water storage, and deploying portable fire pumps to draw water from local reservoirs.
