Arnsberg launches new civil protection and crisis preparedness initiative

The city of Arnsberg is launching a new initiative to strengthen civil protection and crisis preparedness. An introductory event will be held in Breitenbruch to inform citizens about how to respond to modern threats, including extreme weather events caused by climate change, pandemics, infrastructure failures, and geopolitical tensions.

The program includes the introduction of a ‘Mobile Helfer’ (Mobile Helper) pilot project, which seeks to engage volunteers to assist during crises. Additionally, the city will provide information on emergency meeting points and practical advice for individual self-preparedness. Christopher Hilverling, First Deputy of Arnsberg, emphasized that strengthening societal resilience requires close networking between authorities, emergency services, and citizens.
