Arona faces criticism over deteriorating street cleaning services

Residents and opposition members in Arona, Tenerife, are denouncing the deteriorating state of street cleaning and waste collection services. Critics claim the municipality suffers from insufficient staff and aging machinery, preventing effective coverage across the entire district.

Opposition spokesperson Luis García of Más por Arona alleges that the service provider, Valoriza, has been managing the contract since 2011 without a comprehensive renewal. He claims the company responds to specific complaints by relocating workers from one area to another, leaving other parts of the municipality neglected. Furthermore, it is alleged that trash bins are being removed to reduce the workload required for collection, a move described as a way to cut labor costs without formally reducing the contracted service.
