Arona inaugurates Fanny Usellini Museum of Modern Art
The Fanny Usellini Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art has officially opened in Arona, Italy. The facility, which occupies approximately 1,770 square meters, was converted from a former slaughterhouse into a cultural hub dedicated to art, education, and social inclusion.
The project involved a total investment of 2.19 million euros, funded by the Municipality of Arona (731,000 euros), Fondazione Cariplo (900,000 euros), and the Piedmont Region (560,000 euros). Additional support for interior furnishings was provided by Enel Cuore via the Il Ponte social cooperative.
The museum houses a collection of 556 paintings and sculptures donated by the Sansone-Usellini family. The permanent collection features works by Italian, French, and American artists, with a notable emphasis on Futurism from the 1920s and 1930s. The institution is named in honor of Fanny Usellini Sansone, daughter of the renowned painter Gianfilippo Usellini.
