Aronia harvesting begins in Kahramanmaraş and Kütahya

Aronia harvesting has commenced in various regions of Turkey, including the Andırın district of Kahramanmaraş and the Hisarcık district of Kütahya, as part of efforts to diversify agricultural production.

In Kütahya, agricultural engineer Tunahan Arslan has begun harvesting aronia in Güldüren village. After starting with 1,400 saplings on 7 decares of land in 2023, Arslan expects his yield to exceed 1 ton this year, up from 600 kilograms last year. He utilizes organic farming methods, avoiding pesticides to cater to health-conscious consumers. Arslan noted that his garden has grown to approximately 20,000 to 25,000 trees through natural propagation and expressed interest in expanding his production with state support.

In Kahramanmaraş, the harvest in the Darıovası neighborhood marks the growing role of aronia as an alternative crop. Ramazan Bilir, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, attended the program, noting that such high-value crops contribute to both agricultural diversity and the economic development of local producers.
