Aroundtown expands photovoltaic capacity across European portfolio
Aroundtown is expanding its photovoltaic capacity across its real estate portfolio to reduce emissions and increase energy independence. The company has installed solar systems with a total capacity of approximately 15.8 MWp on more than 150 roofs across roughly 120 properties in Germany and the Netherlands.
A key component of this expansion involves close coordination with tenants. In one specific project involving 16 fully leased locations for the German automotive service provider ATU, the installed capacity exceeds 1.4 MWp. This project is expected to generate approximately 1.0 GWh of renewable electricity annually, which is projected to avoid around 284 tons of CO2 by 2026.
Limor Bermann, Chief Sustainability Officer at Aroundtown, stated that decarbonizing an existing portfolio requires scalable solutions. The company utilizes existing roof surfaces to increase local energy production, which helps lower grid reliance and provides protection against price fluctuations.
