Arqana August Sale sees record €4.6m Wootton Bassett colt sale

The Arqana August Yearling Sale in Deauville saw record-breaking activity, driven largely by high-value purchases of Wootton Bassett colts. A Wootton Bassett colt out of Deadly Nightshade set a new auction record, selling for €4.6 million to MV Magnier and White Birch Farm for Coolmore. This sale surpassed the previous €3-million record established last year.

Godolphin also secured multiple high-priced acquisitions during the event. Anthony Stroud, purchasing on behalf of Godolphin, acquired a son of Wootton Bassett for €2.4 million, as well as another Wootton Bassett colt for €1.6 million. The latter is out of the G3 Prix de Lutece winner Paix. These transactions highlight the intense market demand for the Wootton Bassett bloodline among major international racing operations.
