Arraial do Cabo expands marine animal replica project

Funtec Ambiental is expanding a project in Arraial do Cabo to install marine animal replicas across various public spaces and districts. The initiative, part of the 2026 Whale Season, aims to connect residents and tourists with the region's marine biodiversity.

Key installations include a six-meter humpback whale replica and a 2.5-meter calf. These will be placed in locations such as Praça de Figueira, Pernambuca, Praça de Monte Alto, the Praia Grande waterfront, and the Marina dos Pescadores. Additionally, six dolphin replicas will be distributed between the Praia Grande region and the Pórtico.

According to Funtec Ambiental president Ronnie Plácido, the structures are being manufactured in Magé, São Paulo, and Vitória. The project seeks to highlight the natural heritage of the area, which is recognized by the Instituto Baleia Jubarte as a primary location for terrestrial whale watching in Brazil. All new structures are expected to be installed by the end of the 2026 Whale Season.
