Arraial do Cabo implements 24-hour remote Libras interpretation

Arraial do Cabo has launched the ‘Ondas de Sinais’ program to improve accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing citizens in municipal public services. Using the ICOM platform, the city provides 24-hour remote Libras interpretation.

Citizens can access the service by scanning a QR code at participating locations, which connects them via video call to a remote interpreter. This system allows for more independent communication between users and public servants without the need for a third-party intermediary. The initiative, led by the Secretariat of Social Development, Work, Income, and Human Rights, makes Arraial do Cabo the first city in the Lakes Region and the second in the state of Rio de Janeiro to implement this technology.
