Arrapaho ASD warns of financial crisis at PalaPapini sports facility

The sports association Arrapaho ASD has raised concerns regarding the economic sustainability of managing the PalaPapini sports facility in Ciconia, near Orvieto. The club, which serves approximately 150 young members and promotes inclusive sports like Baskin, reports that rising energy costs and management expenses are threatening its operations and may necessitate increased membership fees or service cuts.

In response to claims of institutional silence, Orvieto’s Sports Councilor, Piergiorgio Pizzo, stated that the administration has been in active dialogue with the club. Pizzo clarified that the PalaPapini is owned by the Province of Terni and managed under an agreement directly between the province and Arrapaho ASD, meaning the Municipality of Orvieto does not have the authority to modify the existing economic terms.

However, the municipal administration noted it has urged the Province to intervene regarding energy efficiency to reduce management costs. The city also highlighted its efforts to support local sports through the use of municipal school gyms at sustainable rates and participation in regional funding calls for sports infrastructure.
