Arrests Made During Karmelo Anthony Murder Trial in Texas

Two men were taken into custody outside the Collin County courthouse in Texas after a jury sentenced Karmelo Anthony to 35 years for the murder of high‑school athlete Austin Metcalf. Jerome Winston Parker was arrested on an outstanding warrant for alleged unlawful carrying of a weapon, while Sholdon Daniels, the Republican nominee for Texas’ 30th congressional district, was booked for public intoxication. Both arrests occurred as tensions flared following the racially charged verdict. Daniels posted on X, saying, “I practice law in Collin County, Texas… Karmelo Anthony will be convicted and sentenced to life in prison,” emphasizing his view of the case.
