Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team Teams Up with Aurora Innovation for Autonomous Trucks

On August 4, the Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team announced a multi‑year partnership with Aurora Innovation Inc., a leading autonomous‑trucking technology company, naming Aurora its official autonomous‑trucking partner.

Starting at the Portland International Raceway event (August 7‑9), Aurora branding will appear on Arrow McLaren’s team kit, and for the 2027 season the Aurora logo will be featured on the No. 6 Chevrolet’s driver firesuits and engine cover. Team president Kevin Thimjon and Aurora president Ossa Fisher said the alliance reflects a shared focus on innovation, safety and performance.

The collaboration is framed as a marketing and technology alignment rather than a plan to replace truck drivers. Both parties note that autonomous trucks currently operate under limited conditions and could help address industry challenges such as driver shortages, long‑haul fatigue and safety, though widespread deployment remains years away.
