Ars Sacra Festival celebrates 20th anniversary with art and religious programs

The 20th anniversary of the Ars Sacra Festival will take place from September 12 to 20, featuring a wide array of cultural and religious programs across Hungary and the Carpathian Basin. The festival aims to use the universal language of art to build community and connect participants to religious experiences.

In Miskolc, the local edition of the festival will run from September 11 to 20, offering approximately 55 programs and involving over 600 performers. The Miskolc schedule includes art exhibitions, spiritual programs, concerts, discussions, and a scientific-artistic conference. Preceding the main event, an exhibition by ceramicist Mária Petrás and painter Ágnes Máger will open at the Herman Ottó Museum on August 25.

The broader national festival includes roughly 400 programs in cities such as Budapest, Kaposvár, Vác, Cluj-Napoca, and Sibiu. Activities include concerts, exhibitions, and guided walks through churches and urban spaces. Notable performers include Dezső Ránki, Márta Sebestyén, and the Animae Musicae Chamber Orchestra. Participation in the festival programs is free of charge.
