Arsenal pursue Julian Alvarez as transfer saga heats up

Arsenal have intensified talks with Atletico Madrid over Argentine striker Julian Alvarez. The club is reported to be prepared to spend up to £90‑100 million, while Atletico have set a price above £100 million and have a €500 million release clause. Arsenal may consider including Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres in a swap deal to meet Atletico’s demands.

Barcelona are also preparing an improved offer for Alvarez and have confirmed an official approach, though the Spanish club has faced resistance from Atletico. President Joan Laporta said Barcelona’s bid has been submitted but will not compromise the club’s financial discipline.

Alvarez has publicly indicated a preference for a move to Barcelona and has ruled out joining Arsenal, adding another layer of complexity to the negotiations. Meanwhile, Arsenal are reshaping their attack after selling Leandro Trossard and may also look to offload Gabriel Jesus.

The transfer saga follows Arsenal’s title‑winning season and their aim to strengthen the squad for a Champions League challenge.
