Arsenal and Newcastle compete for Brazilian talent Eduardo Pape

Arsenal and Newcastle United are competing for the signature of 17-year-old Brazilian midfielder Eduardo Pape, who currently plays for Cruzeiro. Bayern Munich is also reportedly monitoring the player's development.

Pape has gained attention through his performances with the Cruzeiro U20 squad, recording three goals and three assists in 32 matches over the past year. He has also represented Brazil at the youth international level. While he has yet to debut for Cruzeiro's senior team, the club's academy director, Adilson Batista, has compared his playing style to Manchester City midfielder Rodri and former striker Radamel Falcao.

Cruzeiro holds Pape's contract until December 2029, which includes a €100 million release clause for foreign clubs. However, Azuriz club president Nelson Ramos suggested a potential transfer could be negotiated for between €20 million and €25 million. Due to regulations regarding the transfer of minors, any move to English clubs would likely be delayed until next summer.
