Arsenal FC nears new contract extension for captain Martin Ødegaard

Arsenal FC is reportedly close to securing a new, long-term contract extension for captain Martin Ødegaard. The London-based club views the Norwegian midfielder as a vital component of their squad and intends to solidify his future at the Emirates.

Although Ødegaard’s current contract runs until June 30, 2028, Arsenal has already demonstrated its commitment by rejecting several offers from clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window.

Since joining Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid in January 2021 and subsequently completing a permanent transfer for approximately €35 million, Ødegaard has made 242 appearances, scoring 44 goals and providing 41 assists. He also serves as a leader for the Norwegian national team alongside Erling Haaland.
