Arsenal Football Club mourns death of life president Ken Friar

Arsenal Football Club has announced the death of its life president, Ken Friar OBE, who passed away at the age of 92. Friar had a storied association with the club spanning nine decades, beginning in 1945 when he worked as a messenger after a chance encounter with manager George Allison.

Throughout his career, Friar rose through the ranks from the box office to become club secretary in 1965 and managing director in 1983. He was a central figure in the club’s historic relocation from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium, a project he navigated alongside director Danny Fiszman. In 2020, he transitioned to the role of life president.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta paid tribute to Friar following a Champions League victory over Lille, describing him as a man who created an identity and vision for the club. The club has planned various tributes, including players wearing black armbands and moments of reflection to honor his extraordinary legacy.
