Arsenal goalkeepers face competition and sponsorship speculation
Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has sparked speculation regarding a potential change in footwear sponsorship after wearing Nike Mercurial Superfly 11 boots during a recent Premier League match. This departure from his long-standing use of Adidas Predator boots is notable, as goalkeepers typically favor control-oriented models rather than speed-driven lines like the Mercurial. While the switch suggests his previous Adidas contract may have ended, neither Nike nor Raya has officially confirmed a new agreement.
At the youth level, Arsenal U21 coach David Horseman is currently undecided on his starting goalkeeper. Khari Ranson and Jack Porter are competing for the first-choice position, with Horseman praising Ranson’s footwork in a recent EFL Trophy victory and Porter’s performance for the U19s against Napoli. Meanwhile, Lucas Nygaard has moved into the third-choice role following a loan spell at Brabrand.
