Arsenal ready for World Cup stars' comeback while eyeing defender Ezri Konsa
Arsenal are planning a phased return for their World Cup‑adjusted squad, assessing the fitness of midfield captain Declan Rice, who has dealt with persistent hamstring neural pain, and winger Bukayo Saka, who recovered from an Achilles issue during the tournament. Other internationals such as Kai Havertz have been training at former club Bayer Leverkusen, while Brazilian forwards Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli are expected back early next week. The club will also receive other squad members, including Piero Hincapie, Viktor Gyökeres, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke, ahead of pre‑season fixtures.
Separately, Arsenal have been linked with a move for Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa. Former scout Mick Brown said Arsenal players, including Rice, Saka and Eze, may have tried to persuade Konsa during England duty. A deal would require Villa’s agreement and possibly a premium fee, as Villa aim to retain key players after securing Champions League qualification.
