Bruno Guimaraes joins Arsenal for £75 million

Arsenal and Newcastle United have reached an agreement for the transfer of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. The clubs settled on a £75 million fee, with the payment to be made in three £25 million instalments. Guimaraes completed his medical at the Emirates Stadium and signed a four‑year contract with a 12‑month option. Personal terms with the player were finalised in July. The move makes Guimaraes Arsenal’s third summer signing, joining goalkeeper Illan Meslier, winger Christos Tzolis and defender Piero Hincapie, whose loan was made permanent. During his four‑year spell at Newcastle, Guimaraes made 195 appearances, scored 31 goals and provided 32 assists, and served as the club’s captain. His departure follows Newcastle’s loss of other key players such as Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer. The transfer is expected to bolster Arsenal’s midfield ahead of their Premier League title defence.
