Napoli hosts Arsenal in Champions League league phase opener

Napoli and Arsenal are set to face each other in a UEFA Champions League league phase match at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The match marks a significant moment for Napoli manager Massimiliano Allegri, who will reach his 101st Champions League dugout appearance.

Napoli enters the contest following recent domestic struggles, including losses to Inter Milan and Como. Allegri has expressed confidence in his squad's ability to recover, despite defensive concerns. Arsenal arrives in high form, having maintained a strong start to the 2026/27 season and coming off a victory against Chelsea.

Arsenal's recent transfer activity has been a point of discussion, specifically the record €70 million sale of Gabriel Martinelli to Al-Hilal. While the club has strengthened with players like Bruno Guimaraes and Ezri Konsa, some analysts have questioned the depth of the attacking squad following the departures of Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

The match will be broadcast exclusively on Prime Video. Security measures are in place in Naples to manage the expected arrival of approximately 1,500 Arsenal supporters.
