Police lay charges in multiple theft and arson investigations

Police in Australia’s Central West region have made progress in investigating a series of vehicle thefts occurring between March 2025 and January 2026. The incidents, which involved the theft of a Mitsubishi ute, a UTV, and a Toyota Land Cruiser in areas including Parkes and Tottenham, have been linked by investigators. In a separate incident in the same region, a 19-year-old man was charged after a white Skoda hatchback was allegedly stolen from Forbes and subsequently destroyed by fire in Orange.

In Canada, several arson investigations have resulted in charges. An Edmonton man, Bhawani (Shaun) Tah, has been charged with arson for fraudulent purposes regarding the June 2026 fire that destroyed the historical Wetaskiwin Memorial Arts Centre.

Additionally, following a six-year investigation, 29-year-old Yu Yun Wang has been charged with arson and disregard for human life in connection with a 2020 fire at Burnaby Hospital in British Columbia. The blaze, which occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, caused extensive damage and forced the closure of the hospital’s emergency room.
