Arson at Indian police station and multi-vehicle crash in Singapore

In Aranthangi, Pudukkottai district, an unidentified individual set fire to three motorcycles parked outside a police station in the early hours of August 19, 2026. The vehicles included two government motorcycles used by police officers and one private motorcycle. CCTV footage shows a person walking near the station entrances before pouring petrol on the bikes and fleeing by climbing over a perimeter wall. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the arson.

Separately, a multi-vehicle accident occurred on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) in Singapore on the morning of August 19. The collision involved two cars, a motorcycle, a lorry, and an off-service SBS Transit bus. Three individuals—a 58-year-old car driver, a 54-year-old motorcyclist, and a 57-year-old bus driver—were transported to Woodlands Infirmary for medical attention. SBS Transit issued an apology for the incident and stated they are cooperating with police investigations.
