Arson suspects detained in Larmor‑Plage, France and Laval, Canada
In Larmor‑Plage, France, a 26‑year‑old man was placed in pre‑trial detention after admitting to starting three vegetation fires, including a blaze that destroyed more than 1,500 m² of plant life at the coastal park of Kerguelen. He faces up to 15 years in prison and a €150,000 fine.
In Laval, Canada, two men – Simon Hudon, 42, and Ayoub‑Éliasse Saad, 23 – were arrested for deliberately setting fire to a residential building in the Sainte‑Dorothée neighbourhood. One suspect fled the scene while the other suffered severe burns. Both are charged with possession of incendiary material, conspiracy to commit a criminal act and endangering life, with a court appearance scheduled for 30 September.
