Art and Collecting Lectures in the Netherlands

Art historian Jaap Nijstad will host a series of lectures regarding the art of collecting art. The sessions, scheduled for November 11 and 18, 2026, as well as March 17 and 24, 2027, will take place at the Borculo synagogue. Nijstad will discuss renowned art collections that have been shared with museum audiences worldwide.

Nijstad, a former research consultant for Christie’s and former collection manager at the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam, brings extensive expertise to the series. The lectures aim to explore the diverse characters of collectors and the enduring nature of fine art collecting compared to other hobbyist pursuits.

In a separate cultural feature, artist Klaas Kloosterboer discussed his recent work in a conversation with Robert van Altena. Kloosterboer described his paintings as potential backdrops for installation performances and noted his interest in creating more decorative works in the future.
