Art exhibitions open in Catalonia featuring Gaudí architecture and asbestos documentary
Several art exhibitions are opening in Catalonia. In Tossa de Montbui, photographer Maria Teresa Closas is presenting ‘Les formes de Gaudí’. The black and white photographic series offers a personal interpretation of the Casa Milà (La Pedrera) roof, focusing on architectural elements like chimneys and staircases as sculptural forms. The exhibition is part of the activities related to the Gaudí Centenary 2026.
In Cerdanyola del Vallès, the Ateneu de Cerdanyola is hosting two distinct shows. Visual artist Sílvia Isach presents ‘L’herència latent’, a documentary project developed over eight years that explores the human consequences of asbestos exposure. The project was inspired by the death of her father and aims to keep the memory of those affected alive. Additionally, illustrator Marutxi Beaumont is presenting an immersive work at the same venue.
