Art exhibitions open in Italy featuring Ben Hamouda and Carrà

Various art exhibitions are opening in Italy, highlighting diverse approaches to sensory and metaphysical expression.

At the Centrale Fies gallery in Dro, Trento, Monia Ben Hamouda presents ‘Aniconism as Figuration Urgency’. The installation utilizes the historic 1911 Austro-Hungarian hydroelectric plant as a backdrop. The work features a carpet of fine sand mixed with natural pigments and spices, such as turmeric, alongside laser-cut iron plates that evoke Arabic calligraphy through curves rather than literal text. The exhibition focuses on the relationship between form, sign, and matter.

In Stellata, Marcello Carrà will open his solo exhibition, ‘Dispersi sulla spiaggia’, at the Rocca Possente. Running from September 20 to November 22, the show features charcoal works that blend surreal and metaphysical styles. Curated by Catalina Golban, the collection explores themes of human fragility, memory, and metamorphosis.
