Latin American art exhibitions explore identity and memory
Various art exhibitions across Latin America and Spain are exploring themes of identity, memory, and territory. In Mexico City, Peruvian artist Fátima Rodrigo presented ‘Con todo y mi tristeza’ at Museo Tamayo, an installation using geometric shapes and pastel colors to reflect on how television aesthetics shaped Latin American visual identity.
In Puebla, Museo Amparo opened ‘El hogar que habito,’ featuring works from 60 artists including Francisco Toledo and Leonora Carrington. The collection explores the concept of inhabiting space through the lenses of body, memory, and power. Meanwhile, in Cali, Colombia, the exhibition ‘Cali, después del ruido’ uses community participation to reconstruct the city's memory following a 1956 dynamite explosion.
Other notable cultural events include María José Arjona’s ‘Sedimentaciones’ at the Sala de Arte Bancolombia in Colombia, and an exhibition in Cádiz, Spain, focused on oceanic art themes.
