Art exhibitions open in Recife featuring Rômulo Jackson and Sérvulo Esmeraldo

Recife is hosting two distinct art exhibitions. At Sesc Santo Amaro, artist Rômulo Jackson presents ‘Saudades no Varal’, an exhibition featuring 29 still-life canvases. The works draw inspiration from the daily life and collective memories of Pernambuco, utilizing everyday objects and food items as social markers to reflect on how the present constructs future memories.

Simultaneously, Caixa Cultural Recife is hosting a free exhibition titled ‘Esse é Sérvulo Esmeraldo’, celebrating the career of the late Ceará-born artist. The showcase includes approximately 50 works spanning nearly 70 years, ranging from engravings to sculptures. The collection highlights Esmeraldo’s connection to kinetic art and his use of geometric forms, particularly triangles, to explore the intersection of art and science.
