Art exhibitions open in Split and Omišlje, Croatia
The Fotoklub Split Gallery inaugurated a solo photography show by young local artist Danica Katunarić titled “Podstanari”. The exhibit features around thirty images that portray insects as quiet residents of carefully staged scenes, turning the commonly disliked “tenants” into focal points of the compositions. The opening was attended by Fotoklub president Ana Žanko and curator Mirta Lučin; the show runs until 31 July and is part of the Gallery’s 2026 program, funded by the Croatian Ministry of Culture, the Split-Dalmatia County and the City of Split, with support from the Kultura Nova Foundation.
In the town of Omišlje, the Vijećnica Gallery hosted a painting exhibition dedicated to the late artist Stanislava Radimiri. Organized by the Society for the Beautification of Omišlje with municipal backing, the display presents reproductions of her fresco work and explores her diverse artistic legacy across painting, sculpture, ceramics and restoration. The exhibition was opened by Omišlje mayor Mirela Ahmetović and featured remarks from art historian Theodore de Canziani and local clergy member Dr. Anton Bozanić.
