Art exhibitions opening in Brazil and Portugal

Two new art exhibitions are opening in Brazil and Portugal.

In Betim, Brazil, the Casa da Cultura Josephina Bento is hosting “A Segunda Linha do Tempo” by artist Samuel Pinheiro. The exhibition, which runs from September 4 to September 30, features works created by the 81-year-old artist since 2020. Pinheiro’s art utilizes religious symbolism, geometric shapes, and portraits to explore themes of identity, social issues, and the human condition, often reflecting his personal journey with Parkinson's disease.

In Amadora, Portugal, Casa Roque Gameiro will inaugurate the “Eu, Leitão de Barros” exhibition on September 10. The showcase explores the multifaceted career of José Leitão de Barros, who was a filmmaker, playwright, journalist, painter, scenographer, and architect. The exhibition is part of the 47th anniversary celebrations for the municipality of Amadora and will remain open until July 18, 2027.
