Art exhibitions opening in Brazil and Portugal
Two distinct art exhibitions are opening in Brazil and Portugal. In Belo Horizonte, Brazil, visual artist João Gabriel Ifadare is debuting his first solo exhibition, ‘ÌRÁNTÍ ÀWỌN ÀGBÀ: Retratos da Memória Ancestral’, at Galeria Brexa. The collection of paintings explores themes of black identity, ancestry, and collective memory, using the Yoruba expression ‘Àwọn Àgbà’ to represent elders as living libraries of knowledge.
In Casa Branca, Portugal, photographer Margarida Rodrigues is presenting ‘With the Absolute Heart of the Poem of Life’ at the Era Uma Voz association. The exhibition, which commemorates the centenary of poet Allen Ginsberg, focuses on the Beat Generation. The project features photographic works inspired by figures such as Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs, developed through biographical and astrological research.
