Art exhibitions scheduled for Lyon in late 2026
Two distinct art exhibitions are set to take place in Lyon, France, during the 2026-2027 season.
At Galerie Houg, London-based artist Jemima Burrill will present ‘Monument’ from October 29 to November 28, 2026. The exhibition features film, photography, and drawings that explore the concept of the monumental. Her photographic series, ‘On A Pedestal’, examines the underrepresentation of women in public spaces by utilizing urban pedestals. Additionally, her ‘Domestic Monument’ series uses repetitive drawings of kitchen objects to elevate the significance of domestic labor, while her film ‘The Present’ explores themes of intimacy and grief.
At La BF15, Luxembourgish artist Nika Schmitt will hold her first French exhibition, ‘HOMING’, running from November 13, 2026, to January 23, 2027. Schmitt specializes in kinetic sculptures and sound installations that utilize feedback loops. Her work, such as ‘Ignition’, uses motors, sparks, and circuits to create autonomous mechanical movements where each action modifies the environment and subsequent actions of the device.
