Art exhibitions scheduled for Skopje and Belgrade in September 2026

Several new art exhibitions are scheduled to open in September 2026. In Skopje, the Museum of the City of Skopje will host an investigative exhibition dedicated to Borko Lazeski’s ‘Refugees’ cycle. Opening on September 4, the collection features completed works, sketches, drawings, and archival materials. The exhibition, curated by Prof. Dr. Kiril Penushliski, aims to demystify Lazeski’s manuscript and explore themes of exodus and human suffering in Macedonian art.

In Belgrade, Gallery 73 will host ‘BRUTALIST’ starting September 9. This joint project by Macedonian artists Blagojce Naumoski – Bane and Petar Novkovski – INCHRONAX explores the intersection of geometric abstraction, neo-plasticism, and brutalism. The project examines the relationship between structure and materiality, treating geometric form as a process of continuous metamorphosis rather than a static ideal.
