Art exhibitions showcase windmill heritage and war memory in Belgium and the Netherlands

The Mola Molencentrum in Belgium is hosting a special exhibition of works by Flemish luminist Rodolphe De Saegher (1871-1941) until November 15. The collection features over 25 works in pastel, watercolor, oil, and charcoal, primarily centered on the theme of windmills. The exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Friends of the Museum of Fine Arts (MSK) in Ghent to find a sustainable public destination for De Saegher's legacy. While the Province of East Flanders investigates potential permanent inclusion in its collections, the works are currently on temporary loan at Castle Puyenbrug.

In Middelburg, Netherlands, the Vleeshal has opened an exhibition by Vietnamese-American artist Tuân Andrew Nguyên. The display combines Nguyên's sculptures, often made from unexploded Vietnam War munitions, with a collection of shell casings collected from residents across Zeeland. The exhibition explores themes of war, memory, and beauty, featuring video installations and large-scale copper sculptures.
