Art Gallery of Greater Victoria to host Morin and Decter exhibition

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria will host an exhibition titled ‘the x is where our paths cross’ from October 10, 2026, to May 2, 2027. Curated by Toby Lawrence, the project is a collaboration between artists Peter Morin, a Tahltan and French Canadian, and Leah Decter, a Jewish-Canadian white-settler.

The exhibition explores themes of Indigenous sovereignty and white-settler accountability through various mediums. It features performance videos where Morin reads Tahltan stories, alongside Decter’s drawings of Tahltan Territory created from Morin’s family photographs. The display also includes an artist book titled ‘x: the meeting place makes the spine’.

On October 10, the artists will present ‘Tributaries,’ a site-specific, day-long performance experience. Admission to the gallery is free for Indigenous Peoples, visitors aged 25 and younger, AGGV pass holders, and accompanying support workers.
