Art-kino Rijeka celebrates 18th anniversary and decade of film commission

Art-kino Rijeka is celebrating its 18th anniversary alongside the tenth anniversary of the Kvarner Film Commission. Director Slobodanka Mišković announced plans to renovate the historic Croatia hall, with the installation of air conditioning prioritized for 2027.

In 2025, Art-kino reached a record attendance of over 60,000 viewers across 992 screenings and 441 films. While attendance in the first nine months of 2026 has been higher than the same period in 2024, it remains lower than the record-breaking figures seen in 2025. A significant highlight was the film ‘Fiume o morte!’ by Rijeka director Igor Bezinović, which drew over 20,000 viewers through more than 100 largely sold-out screenings.

The cinema has also launched a new project, ‘U zajedničkom filmu’, funded by the European Social Fund Plus. Additionally, staff noted shifting trends among younger audiences, who increasingly view cinema through social media and platforms like Letterboxd rather than traditional regional or genre-based categorizations.
