Art Market Budapest and Szombathely Art Gallery host major exhibitions
Major art events are taking place in Hungary, highlighted by the 16th edition of Art Market Budapest. Held from October 15 to 18 at the MTK Sportpark, the fair is recognized as the largest international contemporary art market in Central and Eastern Europe. The event features approximately 90 exhibitors from 30 different countries, showcasing several thousand works by more than 500 artists.
In Szombathely, the Szombathely Art Gallery is hosting the ‘Living Hungarian Painting 2026’ exhibition to mark Hungarian Painting Day. The exhibition, which runs until November 22, presents between 120 and 140 works. It aims to foster a dialogue between three generations of Hungarian artists: the doyens, the middle generation, and the younger generation.
Additional cultural programming includes a student exhibition from the University of Fine Arts Budapest at the Új Irokéz Gallery, running through October 31.
