Arta mayors seek state aid for olive oil producers

Mayors from the Arta region, representing the municipalities of Arta, Nikolaou Skoufa, and Georgiou Karaiskaki, have issued a joint letter to the Minister of Rural Development and Food. The letter calls for urgent state intervention to support local olive oil producers.

Producers are facing significant economic uncertainty regarding the pricing of this year’s Green Table Olive of Arta harvest. There are reports of a potential price drop of approximately €0.50 to €0.60 per kilogram compared to the previous period. This decline, combined with rising costs for fertilizers, plant protection, fuel, irrigation, and labor, threatens to create a severe financial crisis for the local agricultural sector.
