ARTE announces new comedy series Jossi starring Jannik Schümann

The ARTE network is set to release a new six-part culture-clash comedy series titled ‘Jossi’ starting November 12, 2026. The series stars Jannik Schümann as Wanja, an unsuccessful actor who attempts to secure a career breakthrough by falsely claiming to be Jewish.

This initial lie triggers a cascade of further deceptions and misunderstandings. The show, directed by Wolfgang Groos, uses a classic comedy of errors to explore complex social themes including identity, migration, cultural appropriation, and family dynamics. The production aims to avoid simplistic answers, focusing instead on nuances and contradictions.

The ensemble cast includes Nilam Farooq and Rezo Tschchikwischwili. Each episode runs approximately 30 minutes and will be available on arte.tv, with a television premiere on the ARTE channel at 9:00 PM on the same day.
