Arte concludes broadcast of The Godfather trilogy

The Arte television network is concluding its broadcast of Francis Ford Coppola’s iconic mafia trilogy, with the final installment, ‘The Godfather Part III’, scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026. The trilogy broadcast follows previous airings of the first and second films.

‘The Godfather Part III’ follows an aging Michael Corleone, played by Al Pacino, as he attempts to legitimize the Corleone family business through a real estate venture involving the Vatican. Despite receiving numerous Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, the film did not win any major awards. Reports indicate that Al Pacino nearly declined to reprise his role due to financial negotiations regarding a proposed 5 million dollar offer.

The trilogy remains a cornerstone of cinematic history, featuring performances by Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, and Diane Keaton.
