ARTE launches optimized Mediathek application for Mac

The Franco-German broadcaster ARTE has released an updated version of its Mediathek application, now officially compatible with Mac computers. While users with Apple Silicon chips could previously run the iPad version, the new update (version 6.8) is specifically optimized for macOS.

Key features of the update include improved display scaling for various screen sizes and support for offline playback, allowing users to download documentaries, films, and series for viewing without an internet connection. The app also supports AirPlay for streaming content to external screens. Users logged into their ARTE accounts can access favorites, viewing history, and sync progress across different devices.

To use the application, a Mac must be equipped with an Apple M1 chip or newer. Additionally, ARTE has announced optimizations for the iPhone Duo to better accommodate its dual-screen interface.
