arte moves premiere of Matthias Glasner film ‘Sterben’ forward

The cultural broadcaster arte has announced a short-term programming change, moving the premiere of Matthias Glasner’s award-winning family drama ‘Sterben’ forward by nearly two weeks. Originally scheduled for October 5, the film will now air on Wednesday, September 23, at 22:00. The film is also available for streaming on arte.tv from September 21 through October 22.

Sterben’ follows the Lunie family as they reconnect through illness and death. The production has received significant acclaim, including the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the Berlinale and four German Film Awards, including the Golden Lola for Best Film. The cast features Corinna Harfouch, Lars Eidinger, and Lilith Stangenberg.

Following the film, arte will broadcast the documentary ‘Lars Eidinger – Sein oder nicht Sein’ at 00:50. Directed by Reiner Holzemer, the documentary explores the actor’s physical and improvisational acting style. Due to these changes, the previously scheduled programs ‘Phoenix’ and ‘Volvereis’ have been canceled.
