ARTE releases ‘Prisoner 951’ series on Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe
ARTE is releasing a new four-part miniseries titled ‘Prisoner 951’, a political thriller based on true events. The drama depicts the six-year hostage situation of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, a British-Iranian citizen, in Iran.
The narrative begins in April 2016 at a Tehran airport, where Zaghari-Ratcliffe was detained by security officials during her attempt to return to London with her daughter. The series follows her ordeal, including accusations of espionage, placement in solitary confinement, and transfer to a remote prison.
Additionally, the series portrays the efforts of her husband, Richard Ratcliffe, played by Joseph Fiennes, as he attempts to uncover the truth and navigate the political complexities of her detention from London.
