Arteaga strengthens strategy to maintain Pueblo Mágico status

The Mayor of Arteaga, Ana Karen Sánchez Flores, led a meeting of the Pueblo Mágico Citizen Committee to review the evaluation process for maintaining the town’s ‘Pueblo Mágico’ status. The session, held in coordination with Coahuila’s Director of Pueblos Mágicos, Melissa García Owen, focused on urban image, identity, and promotion strategies aligned with the state government’s ‘En Coahuila hay plan’ initiative.

Key local actions discussed include the ‘Todas Embellecemos Arteaga’ temporary employment program, which utilizes women for cleaning and maintenance in the historic district. Additionally, authorities have installed new signage, monumental lettering, and welcome arches throughout the municipality and surrounding villages.

To preserve cultural heritage, funds from the San Isidro Labrador patronal festival were used for the restoration of the local parish, a site registered as a historical monument by INAH. Improvements included exterior painting and the acquisition of a new bell. The region’s tourism offerings continue to highlight its wine routes, nature, gastronomy, and sites such as the Museum of Mummies and the Monterreal Forests.
